A video circulating widely on social media shows three young men being dragged as they attempt to walk. It is claimed that these individuals had molested a girl in Uttar Pradesh, and that the Uttar Pradesh Police were responsible for their current condition.
The video is shared on Facebook with a caption: “योगीजी आपको साधूवाद हैकई पीड़ीयाँ आपको याद करती रहेंगी…* *लेकिन आज का हिन्दू आपको ओर आपकी कार्यप्रणाली को नहीं समझेगा…* *सहाब,,, अफजल,,, पैसल.. ये तीन मुस्लिम लड़के.. अफजल ने उत्तर प्रदेश में साइकिल चला रही एक हिन्दू लड़की को खींच लिया। बाकी दो ने लड़की को बाइक से टक्कर मार दी और भाग गए… इस घटना के 24 घंटे के अंदर ही योगीजी ने इनके पैरों में गोलियाँ डाल दी… इलाज भी किया और व्हीलचेयर दिए बिना जेल भी भेज दिया… अगर ये राष्ट्रीय पार्टी की हिम्मत है…ये हिम्मत हमारे हिंदुओ के लिए है। क्या इसके अलावा कोई और पार्टी है” (See below.👇)

Conducting a Reverse Image Search using a screenshot from the video, the NM team found multiple Facebook posts, including one from a page called Fact Tantra, which shared the video on September 18, 2023. The post states that the video shows three main suspects in the murder of Bharatpur’s history-sheeter, Ajay Jhamari, who were apprehended by the police after being shot in the legs during an encounter. The suspects are seen struggling to walk, which the post described as the “end of crime” and praised the Rajasthan Police for their actions. Several other Facebook users shared the video with similar captions.
Further investigation led to a report on the verified Facebook page of First India News, also uploaded on September 18, 2023. The report confirms that the video shows suspects in the Ajay Jhamari murder case, who were injured in a police encounter in Bharatpur. The same footage is now being falsely circulated as an incident from Uttar Pradesh.
Additional news reports, including one from Dainik Jagran, provided more context. According to a September 17, 2023 report, an encounter took place between police and two suspects involved in a molestation case in Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. The suspects attempted to flee while being taken for a medical check-up, resulting in two of them being shot in the leg, while another suffered a broken leg.
Thus, it is evident from the above information that the video showing men being dragged after an encounter is misrepresented as an incident from Uttar Pradesh. It actually depicts suspects in a murder case in Bharatpur, Rajasthan.
