In the aftermath of a separatist militant attack in Pakistan’s volatile southwestern Balochistan region, conflicting narratives have emerged. The Pakistani military reported at least 15 casualties, including two civilians and four law enforcement agents, in an assault on the Mach and Kolpur complexes. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a prominent separatist group in Balochistan, claimed responsibility for the attack.
Against this backdrop, a video circulating on social media purports to depict vehicles set on fire during the incident, with claims that it is linked to the BLA attack.
A Facebook user posted with the caption: “The war is still going on. #BLA freedom movement targets and destroys Pakistani army vehicles.”

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post and found it to be False.
Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes led us to an X formerly (Twitter) post dated January 29 2024, with the caption “Clash between two political parties. Two vehicles were set on fire.#Karachi #Election2024 #MQM #PPP”
Similarly, we also found another tweet carrying the same video that matches the viral clip and indicates that the incident is from Karachi.
Taking a cue from this, we ran a keyword search and found a report with similar visuals published by Dialogue Pakistan dated January 30, 2024. The headline reads: “Video: PPP, MQM-P workers clash over flag removal, one dead.”
According to the report, a clash between supporters of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) in Karachi’s Nazimabad area has reportedly resulted in one person being killed and another injured. The incident occurred in the Nazimabad No.2 area. During the violence, two vehicles were set on fire. The victim, identified as 48-year-old Faraz, lost his life in the confrontation. The clash reflects the tense situation between the political factions, highlighting the need for peaceful resolution and harmony in such situations.
Hence, with the above findings, we can conclusively say that the viral video is not related to a BLA attack. The incident is from Karachi Nazimabad.
