A video of President Droupadi Murmu is doing the rounds on social media. In the clip, she is purportedly seen saying: “I want to request the citizens of our country that Modi Ji’s Hindutva government blackmailed and ordered me to sit in Rafale… If anything happens to me, Modi Ji and his Hindutva politics will be responsible.”
Many users claim that President Murmu made this statement after her sortie in the Rafale fighter jet from Ambala Air Force Station on October 29, 2025. The clip suggests that the government allegedly forced her to undertake the flight.

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the claim and found it to be Misleading.
Searching with relevant keywords, NewsMobile finds no reliable outlet covering any such statement made by President Murmu. However, analysing the video carefully, we observed several discrepancies — unsynchronised lip movements, unnatural facial expressions, and audio — which are normally found in AI-generated deepfakes.
We also noticed the India Today logo on the viral clip. Through Reverse Image Search, we traced the original footage to India Today’s official YouTube channel, uploaded on February 14, 2025, with a title: “10th International Women’s Conference: President Droupadi Murmu in a conference.” In the video, Murmu appears in the same saree and background as seen in the viral clip.
Notably, nowhere in the original video does President Murmu mention PM Modi, the Rafale sortie, or any claim of being blackmailed. This confirms that the viral video has been digitally manipulated.
We found the same highlights on the X handle of ANI as well.
Furthermore, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check unit has addressed the clip on X and Instagram, clarifying that Pakistani propaganda accounts are circulating a digitally altered deepfake video of the President with false claims.
