After clashes broke out in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, between police and supporters of the “I Love Mohammad” slogan, a countertrend titled “I Love Mahadev” has begun circulating on social media. Amid this, a video showing a large torch-lit procession chanting “UP Police, use your batons!” is doing the rounds on social media, claiming it to be recorded in Uttar Pradesh.

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim and found it to be MISLEADING.
A Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes using Google Lens detects an Instagram post from September 26, 2025, identifying the procession in Jaipur, Rajasthan. As per the post, the march was organised in support of families of children who died in the Jhalawar school building collapse.

Cross-checking with an NDTV report confirmed that the rally was held on September 25 by supporters of Rajasthan youth leader Naresh Meena, who was on a hunger strike demanding justice for the victims. The march started from Triveni Nagar Square and concluded at Gurjar Ki Thadi.
A comparison with Google Street View further verified that the visuals matched locations in Jaipur, not Uttar Pradesh.
As for the slogans like “Lath Bajao” heard in the viral clip, these were traced to a different video shared online on September 27, allegedly from Hathras, where demonstrators carrying “I Love Mahadev” banners chanted the same lines. The two videos were spliced together to falsely suggest they were linked to recent events in Bareilly.
Thus, it is confirmed that the viral procession video with misleading claims that it shows the “I Love Mahadev” movement in UP is actually from a protest rally in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
