Amid this, a video widely circulating on social media shows Indian and Chinese soldiers chanting “Jai Shree Ram,” with users claiming it as a symbol of celebration.

The post is being shared with the caption, ‘LAC disengagement between Bharat and China has started with Indian army soldiers and Chinese soldiers both chanting Jai Shri Ram in Despang and Demchok areas. Wondering What Congress and leftists will do now.’

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the claim and found it to be false.

The NM team began investigating by extracting keyframes from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led to a tweet posted on January 22, 2024, by a user on X. Since the video was available before the BRICS Summit on October 25, 2024, it is clear that the viral video is unrelated to recent India-China developments.

The tweet was captioned, “Indian Army… Meanwhile at the India-China Border… Jai Shree Ram… No Sanatan will pass without liking this. #RamJyoti #AyodhyaRamMandir #Ayodhya #RamLallaVirajman.”

Noticing hashtags related to “Ram Mandir” and “Ayodhya” provided a clue that the video might be linked to the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony.

A further search led us to the same video uploaded on the Hindustan Times YouTube channel under the title “Chinese PLA Troops Chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ Slogans In Viral Video | Watch What Happened,” dated January 23, 2024. The video description states, “An undated video showing Chinese soldiers, along with Indian troops, chanting the Hindu slogan ‘Jai Shri Ram,’ reportedly at the Line of Actual Control, has gone viral. The video—whose authenticity is unverified—surfaced on the same day Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the newly-built Ram Temple in Ayodhya. So far, neither the Indian Army nor the Chinese military has commented on the viral video.”

A News18 report from January 23, 2024, featuring a still from the viral video, confirms that it was filmed during the celebrations for the Ram Mandir consecration. The report mentions that following the consecration of Ram Lalla at the grand temple in Ayodhya. This video went viral showing Chinese soldiers chanting “Jai Shri Ram” alongside Indian soldiers near the Line of Actual Control (LAC). In the footage, Indian soldiers taught the slogan to members of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), who subsequently joined in the chant.

Thus, the viral video is from the Ram Mandir consecration celebrations In January this year, not after the BRICS Summit 2024.
