FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post and found the claims to be false.

Checking multiple video keyframes through Reverse Image Search, the NM team identifies a post carrying the same video on an X handle, dated September 13, 2025. The post described the video as showing an incident from Sonbhadra district, Uttar Pradesh.

Additionally, a report by The Free Press Journal, dated September 14, 2025, carries details of the incident along with a screenshot of the viral video. According to the report, on the night of September 12, a team of policemen, including Yogesh Shukla — an observer from the minerals department, attempted to stop trucks suspected of carrying illegal minerals from the Lodhi mine under Robertsganj police station limits in Sonbhadra. When the truck drivers tried to escape, the police personnel present resorted to stone-pelting at the vehicles.

On September 13, the official X handle of Sonbhadra Police had issued a press release confirming the incident. As per the statement, at 11:40 p.m. on September 12, minerals inspector Yogesh Shukla was checking the trucks at the Lodhi barrier. And instead of complying, the drivers allegedly tried to run him over at high speed “with the intention of killing him”. The police personnel then attempted to stop the vehicles. However, the method adopted by policemen was “not correct” and a departmental inquiry had been ordered against them.

Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show West Bengal police throwing stones after failing to stop a sand and stone-laden truck, is false.
