A video is doing the rounds on social media, claiming that during the G20 Summit in New Delhi, the Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte spilled tea by mistake and cleaned it himself.

The video was shared with a caption: It happened in G-20 summit New Delhi 2023, The PM of Netherland had a Tea cup in his hand, fell by mistake. He didn’t call volunteers to clean up. Please see what happened next. With a keyword search, our team found that a screengrab from the video was shared in a report by NDTV, dated June 6, 2018, with a headline: “Video: Dutch PM Mark Rutte Mops Floor After Spilling Coffee. Internet Is All Praise”

According to the report, the incident took place inside the Dutch Parliament in The Hague. While entering through the security gates of the Dutch parliament, Rutte accidentally dropped his coffee. He took the mop and cleaned it himself.

The video was shared by multiple media outlets like TOI, Hindustan Times, and Washington Post in 2018.

Euro News also shared a video of the same on YouTube in June 2018 with a title: “Watch: Dutch PM Rutte applauded after clearing up own coffee spill.”

Thus, from the above fact check, it is clear that the video is not from the recent G20 summit held in New Delhi.
