Two videos, claiming to show used condoms clogging the drainage system of a women’s hostel in Delhi, is doing the rounds on social media. The first video features reporters focusing their cameras on what appear to be used condoms floating in a drain, with one reporter claiming that the footage shows the sewage chamber of a girls’ hostel in Delhi, where “a huge number of used condoms” were allegedly discovered during cleaning. The second video shows a similar scene of condoms scattered near a drain, shared on Facebook with a caption: “Shock in Delhi PG Hostel as thousands of used condoms were found during drainage cleaning. Locals have dubbed it the ‘Condom Nala Scandal’.”

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim and found it to be MISLEADING.
In the first video, the logo “VN Creator” is visible. This led to a Facebook page of the same name, which had originally posted the clip on October 27. Upon closer examination, it became clear that the “VN Creator” watermark was used to conceal the original “Sora” watermark — the logo of OpenAI’s AI video generation tool. The same Facebook page had also uploaded a similar video claiming to show used condoms found in hostels in Pune, where the “Sora” watermark was visible, confirming that these visuals were generated using AI.

A Reverse Image Search of the second video keyframes reveals that it is not from India but Nigeria. The original video has been shared by a Nigerian social media influencer, dated October 13, stating that it is filmed in Nigeria. A longer version of the same video also contains a voiceover mentioning “Nigeria”. Additionally, the footage has been shared by the Nigerian news outlet, Edo Online Television, on the same day.
