FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post and found it to be misleading.
Running a Reverse Image Search of the viral video keyframes, the NM team traced a Facebook post, dated July 15, 2024, on an unverified profile — Weather Updates Karachi. The caption of the post reads: “Many people flock to Kalri Lake after ban on Karachi beach.”
Searching further, we came across another Facebook video published on a page from Karachi, Pakistan. The video shows visuals of the Karli Jheel Tourist Spot. Here we can see that certain keyframes of this video match with the viral clip.
We found many other Facebook posts from unverified profiles showing the same video claiming the video to be from Karachi, dated July 2024. Given that the floods in Bangladesh started in August 2024, the video cannot be linked to Bangladesh in any way.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show visuals from the ongoing floods in Bangladesh, is fabricated.
