A CCTV video recorded inside a restaurant is doing the rounds on social media. The footage shows three young men seated separately, eating at different tables. At one point, one of them is seen passing something discreetly to another, who then places it onto a third person’s plate. It’s claimed that the individuals seen in the footage are part of a group of pilgrims in Uttar Pradesh, who allegedly added bone fragments into their vegetarian food in an attempt to avoid paying the bill.
Several posts circulating the video further assert that it was originally shared by the restaurant’s manager as evidence of this alleged act.
A Facebook user posted the viral post with the following caption:

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post and found the claims to be false.
Reverse image search of the viral video keyframes traces a report by NDTV on August 3, 2025. The report identifies the location as a restaurant — Biryani Bay in Shastri Chowk, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.

According to NDTV, the incident took place on July 31, 2025. A group of about 13 people visited the restaurant, with some ordering vegetarian food and others ordering non-vegetarian food. Towards the end of the meal, the group claimed that bones were found in the vegetarian food, leading to a dispute. This footage was obtained from the restaurant’s CCTV by the owner.
The NDTV report makes no mention of the individuals being participants in the Kavadi Yatra. It also notes that some of them ordered non-vegetarian food but were served vegetarian food instead. Media reports state that the Kavadi Yatra concluded on July 23, 2025—seven days before this incident.
An Aaj Tak report on the same incident states that one youth accused the restaurant of hurting religious sentiments during the month of Shravan after claiming to find a bone in vegetarian food. The restaurant owner, Ravikar Singh, called the police when the dispute escalated. The CCTV footage reveals the sequence of events, after which police removed the youths from the premises.
ABP News also reported on the incident, publishing footage showing youths removing bone fragments from plates.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show Kawad Yatra add bone fragments into their vegetarian food in an attempt to avoid paying the bill, is false.
