NewsMobile fact-checked the claim, and found it to be false.
Searching with relevant keywords, the NM team found no credible reports or announcements confirming Dhoni’s political affiliation with BJP. Additionally, we reviewed the official social media accounts of BJP, PM Modi, and MS Dhoni, but found no such announcement.
A detailed examination of the viral images exposed several inconsistencies, such as distorted facial features and blurred background elements. Notably, Prime Minister Modi’s spectacles appeared merging with his face — clear signs of AI-generated manipulation.
Additionally, putting the images through Hive Moderation, an AI detection tool, NewsMobile found that the images were AI-generated.Â
Thus, it is evident that the viral image claiming MS Dhoni joined the BJP is Misleading.
