A set of pictures showing actors Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan visiting veteran actress Rekha in hospital is widely circulating on social media. It is being claimed that Rekha was recently hospitalised following a heart attack and is in critical condition.
The caption with the picture reads: “Jaya Bachchan Meets Rekha In Hospital After Her Heart Attack News And Critical Health Condition.”

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral images and found the claim to be false.
Conducting a keyword search to verify the claim, the NM team found no credible news reports or official statements confirming that Rekha suffered a heart attack or was hospitalised. A development of such significance would have been widely reported by mainstream news media. A Reverse Image Search of the viral pictures also did not yield any credible results.
However, a closer look at the images reveals the tell-tale signs of AI manipulation like unnatural facial expressions, blurred textures, particularly around the hands and background, distorted features around the eyes and mouth, and shadows.
Additionally, running the images through Hive Moderation, an AI-detection tool, we came to know that the images were artificially created.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral images claiming that Rekha is hospitalised after a heart attack are digitally altered.
