A visual showing the Eiffel Tower displaying an Israeli flag is doing the rounds on social media. Many users claim France is showing support to Israel amidst the ongoing Israel-Iran war.

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be misleading.
Running a Reverse Image Search of the viral picture, the NM team identified an Instagram Post on the Official account of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, dated October 9, 2023, saying that Eiffel Tower displayed Israel’s flag in solidarity after the attack on the country by HAMAS in October 2023.
Searching further, we found the same image tweeted by the official channel of France diplomacy as well. Here too, we can see that they posted the picture in solidarity with Israel.
Similar pictures were also published on Reuters Pictures as well. This confirms that the Eiffel Tower did show Israel’s flag in October 2023, but not recently.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming Eiffel Tower displayed Israel’s flag to show solidarity amidst the Israel-Iran war, is misleading.
