Performing an open keyword search, the NM team spotted a Hindustan Live report, dated August 8, 2023 with the viral video. According to the report, the ASI team is conducting a survey of the Gyanvapi mosque complex. On August 4 (Friday), the ASI team started the survey work. This survey is conducted daily from 9 am to 5 pm. Both Hindu and Muslim people are present in the team, and the lawyers of both sides are involved. Four teams of more than 50 personnel are working on the investigation. On August 7, a young man was seen climbing the dome with the help of a ladder. Some people made a video of the incident and claimed that he tampered with some evidence. However, Police clarified that the man in the viral video is a member of the ASI survey team and had climbed the dome at the behest of the ASI team.

The report further mentions that the Varanasi police were already aware of the man in the viral video. The man climbed on the dome with the help of a ladder to hold the tape during measurement. Inspector Chowk Shivakant Mishra told media that the report has been sent to the DGP office. RS Gautam, DCP, Kashi Zone, mentioned that there was no obstruction in the survey and there was no such incident of tampering with the evidence. The youth had climbed the dome on the instructions of the ASI team.

Therefore, we can conclusively say that the man in the viral video was a part of the ASI team who are surveying the Gyanvapi Mosque. There was no case of tampering with any evidence.
