The post questions why Gupta, who confidently predicted Modi’s victory in exit polls, is now seen crying.
The Facebook post reads: छाती ठोककर 400 पार एक्जिट पोल में मोदी की आंधी दिखाने वाले प्रदीप गुप्ता अब रो क्यों रहे हैं ? (English Translation: Why is Pradeep Gupta, who showcased Modi’s storm in the exit polls by thumping his chest for ‘400 Paar’, now crying?)

Searching with relevant keywords, the NM team traced a YouTube video posted by India Today on March 10, 2022, with a title: “Pradeep Gupta Breaks Down As Rajdeep Sardesai & Rahul Kanwal Praise Him For Getting Exit Poll Right.” The video, which was a bit lengthy, had a timestamp of seven minutes and fifteen seconds.
Going through the video closely, we observed that the most notable segment occurred between 2:42 and 3:22 in the timeline, clarifying that the circulated video is from the 2022 assembly elections.
With a keyword search to determine if Pradeep Gupta cried during the recent Lok Sabha election results announcement, we came across another video released on June 4, 2024, by India Today. In this live broadcast, Pradeep Gupta can be seen shedding tears. The video, titled “Axis My India’s CEO Pradeep Gupta Breaks Down In Tears After His Exit Poll Prediction Went Wrong”, confirms that Pradeep Gupta, indeed, cried during the recent events.
So, the clip in question, which falsely claims to depict Gupta crying due to an inaccurate forecast, is an outdated video from 2022.
