Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, our team identified a YouTube video on the official channel of Republic World, dated December 19, 2023, with a title: Rahul Gandhi Leads Mockery Of Indian Vice President Outside Parliament With Kalyan Banerjee. The news bulletin informs that Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee was impersonating Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar.
There is no mention of any religious references in the bulletin. Going through the report carefully, we came to know that the controversial incident took place during the protest held by the INDI-Alliance MPs after the suspension of Opposition MPs from the Parliament.
NDTV, too, posted the video of Banerjee mocking Dhankar on their official YouTube channel on the same day.
Also, a news article on NDTV carries Dhankar’s comments on the viral video. The video being played parallelly to Dhankar’s screen matches exactly with the viral clip, confirming that Banerjee was mocking VP Dhankar, NOT the Hindu gods or religious sentiments.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming an INDI-Alliance MP insulted Hindu gods and beliefs, is false.
