FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the claim, and found it to be Misleading.
With a keyword search, the NM team traced a news report from the Bangladesh media outlet Kalbela, dated August 5, 2024, featuring a photograph of a fire at the same building.
Next, we located a video from the same location on a Bangladeshi YouTube channel — Beloved City Benapole — dated January 3, 2024. Here, the YouTuber repeatedly referred to the location as Raj Palace. The video’s title further confirmed that it was taken at ‘Raj Palace Coffee Shop & Restaurant Kalaroa Satkhira’.
We also used Google geolocation to search the place, and identified the same building as seen in the viral video. This indicated that the viral video does not show a temple set ablaze in Bangladesh during the political unrest, but a restaurant named Raj Palace Coffee Shop & Restaurant in Kalaroa, Satkhira.
Hence, it is evident that the video does not show a temple but a restaurant which was set ablaze in Bangladesh.
