The video is shared on Facebook with a caption: “বারাসাত এর রাস্তায় দেখা গেল চিতাবাঘ দক্ষিণ পাড়া” (English translation: A leopard was seen on the road of Barasat south neighbourhood.)

Extracting keyframes from the viral video and performing a Reverse Image Search with relevant keywords, we traced a video news report published by Mirror Now, dated November 5, 2022, carrying the longer version of the viral video. The description reads: “Leopard has entered the residential area of Mysuru. Some of the residents have been injured in the leopard attack. A rescue operation to capture the leopard is going on by forest officials. The leopard entered the residential complex and attacked the biker. It has created panic among the residents.”
The same news report was also published by The Times of India on November 4, 2022, with a headline: “Caught on camera: Leopard attacks forest department staffer, biker in Karnataka’s Mysuru.”
According to the Deccan Herald report, the forest department managed to cage the leopard after about 17 hours. Also, we could not find any recent media reports claiming that a leopard was seen running on the streets of Shyamnagar or the Barasat area in West Bengal.
Thus, it is clear that the video of a leopard on the streets of Karnataka’s Mysore is being falsely shared as that from West Bengal.
