FACT CHECK

NewsMobile investigated the viral claim, and found it to be Misleading.

Performing a Reverse Image Search of the viral video keyframes, the NM team traced the same video on Russia’s social media platform, VK, uploaded on February 04, 2024.

The VK caption describes about a 7.6 magnitude earthquake in Japan that occurred on January 1, 2024.

A comparison between the original and viral video confirms that the footage of the Tibetan earthquake is identical to the one showing the earthquake in Japan.

A further keyword search on Google finds the same video, uploaded on YouTube on February 5, 2024, confirming that the footage is from Japan.

Thus, we can conclusively say that the viral video showing the footage of an earthquake is actually from Japan, NOT Tibet as claimed.
