A video on social media claims to show an aircraft in Alaska wrapped in a puffer jacket as it moves towards the runway. The post alleges that the jacket-like covering shields the plane from Alaska’s harsh winter temperatures, which can plunge to -60°C (-80°F) or even lower. The caption states that these custom covers, often referred to as engine or aircraft jackets, are essential for safeguarding planes from extreme cold, ensuring their safe and efficient operation in such challenging conditions.

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the claim, and found it to be false.
The Internet has been charmed by a viral video showing an airplane in Alaska seemingly wrapped in a puffer jacket to “protect it from extreme temperatures”. Upon analysing the keyframes of the video through Reverse Image Search, it was traced back to a YouTube channel — Creativa, uploaded on April 12, 2024.
The Creativa video was part of an advertising campaign for the Australian clothing brand DECJUBA, promoting their D-LUXE Basics puffer collection. The channel’s description clarified that the AI-generated clip was designed for a virtual outdoor (FOOH) ad campaign.
The video description further added that FOOH (Fake Out of Home) involved crafting digital content that mimics real-world advertising formats, such as billboards or installations, to make them appear as if they’re part of everyday public life. Creativa explained that these ads were created digitally but presented online to captivate audiences by simulating real-life scenarios.
As the title of the YouTube video credits HERO, an advertising agency, as a collaborator, we reviewed Hero’s social media accounts. We found a LinkedIn post featuring the same video, which had been shared on TikTok eight months earlier.
Additionally, a report from The Independent dated December 3, 2024, confirmed the video was AI-generated and part of this creative campaign. Far from an Alaskan airport scene, the bundled-up airplane is a clever digital marketing piece.
Thus, the viral video of the “puffer jacket” airplane is an AI-Generated advertisement, not a real-life scene from Alaska.
