Fact Check: Virat Kohli Did Not Say Team India’s Value Will Disappear After His Retirement

Date:

A social media claim suggests that ace Indian cricketer Virat Kohli allegedly made a controversial statement, saying that the value of Team India will “completely vanish” after his retirement.

The text in Hindi reads: “मेरे संयास लेने के बाद टीम इंडिया की पूरी तरह से वैल्यू खत्म हो जाएगी अभी मैं हूं इसलिए ही भारतीय टीम में इतना रौनक है।”

(English translation:”After I retire, the value of Team India will completely vanish. I am still there and that is why there is so much excitement in the Indian team.”)

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the claim and found it to be false.

With relevant keyword search, the NM team could not find any credible report about Kohli making any such statement. His social media accounts (Instagram and X) also have not carried any such statement.

So in conclusion, it can be asserted that the viral post’s claim about Kohli’s appeal to BSNL is fabricated.
