A video claiming people of a certain community are slaughtering cows out in the open in Karnataka is doing the rounds on social media. Many users claim that even the police are not doing anything as they are in majority in the state.
A Facebook user posted the viral post (Archive link) with the following caption:
(English translation: In Karnataka, people of Muslim community are openly killing cows on the streets and the police administration is also not doing anything because Muslim population is in majority in states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
In the states of India where Muslim population is in majority, law and Constitution have been murdered. Some states of India have become Islamic states. If this continues, then it will not take time for India to become an Islamic nation.
Remember one thing of mine, go to India or any corner of the world and see that wherever there are minorities, there have been atrocities against Sanatani people.)

Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, the NM team identified an Instagram post, dated February 17, 2024, on an unverified profile based out of Wayanad, Kerala. The comments and the caption of the post suggest that it is from Kerala. Some comments suggest that these people are holding a protest in Pulpalli against the attacks by wild animals on livestock.

Searching further, we came across a news article from The Free Press Journal, dated February 17, 2024. The video and the images used in the article match with the viral clip, confirming that it was a protest in Pulappally, Wayanad district of Kerala, against the increasing incidents of attacks by wild animals. The local residents had tied the dead body of a cow killed by a tiger to a forest department jeep.

We could not find a single credible source of news linking the video to Karnataka. Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming people of the Muslim community are openly killing cows on the streets of Karnataka, is false.
