On June 27, protests erupted in Nanterre, France, after one police officer shot dead a 17-year-old driver during a routine traffic check. Over 1,000 people have been arrested across the country following four nights of riots, with demonstrations taking place in Marseille, Lyon, Grenoble, and parts of Paris. The incident, involving Nahel Merzouk — reportedly an Algerian descent, has ignited anger over racial inequality and allegations of police discrimination in France.
Against this backdrop, a video showing cars falling down from a tall building is widely shared on social media, linking it to the recent violence in France.
The video is shared on Facebook with a caption: “फ्रांस ने एक राष्ट्रवादी महिला को छोड़कर एक सेक्युलर लिबरल मैकरों को राष्ट्रपति चुना, परिणाम देखिए।” (In English translation, below.)

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be FALSE.
Doing a Reverse Image Search of keyframes from the video, the NM team identified a tweet from July 1, 2023, claiming that the footage is from The Fast And The Furious movie.
Searching further, we found the same video tweeted on June 3, 2016, with a caption: “The Fast & The Furious 8 filming in Cleveland. Imagine if you weren’t aware and suddenly saw this.”
A Fox News report — uploaded on a YouTube channel on June 12, 2016, featuring the viral video starting from the 00:07 mark — mentions that the scenes were filmed for The Fast And The Furious in Cleveland, Ohio, in US. It was further revealed that the eighth instalment of the popular franchise, titled The Fate of the Furious, will release on April 12, 2017.
We also came across a report from The Mirror, dated June 4, 2016, which mentions that The Fast And The Furious crew had filmed one of their most explosive scenes for their upcoming movie, then titled “Fast 8,” set to be released in April 2017. This report further reinforces the information that the viral video is, indeed, from the filming of The Fast and The Furious franchise.
Thus, it is evident from the above information that visuals from a movie have been falsely linked to violence in France.
