The coronavirus pandemic in the country is getting worse by the day, as the number of cases continues to rise. Adding fuel to the already worsening situation, is the web of misinformation circulating on social media.
Recently, a post started doing the rounds, with a claim, that the Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to implement a complete lockdown in Delhi-NCR from June 18 onwards for four weeks.
“Home ministry sources confirming Delhi NCR complete lockdown from 18th June for 4 weeks. This time it’s going to be very strict. No one will be allowed out. President’s rule in Delhi.
Everyone, please do all necessary work which involves movement of paper, file, computer, etc ASAP before Delhi gets lockdown,” the message read.
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post and found it to be fake.
Even government sources have confirmed that the post in question is misleading and false.
In fact, the Press Information Bureau (PIB), in a tweet, clarified that the government has no such plans as of yet.

The message started circulating in the wake of review meetings held by Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday, June 14, 2020, with LT Governor Anil Baijal, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, mayors and commissioners of Delhi’s three municipal corporations to discuss the situation in the national capital.
Union Home Minister has also called a meeting of all political parties in Delhi on June 15, 2020, to discuss the Covid-19 situation in the national capital.
Thus, the above information establishes that the viral post in question is fake.
