A video showing a bus engulfed in flames is being widely shared on social media with the claim that it depicts an Amarnath Yatra bus that was attacked with a hand grenade in Srinagar during the ongoing pilgrimage.
A Facebook user posted the viral post with the following caption:

They are trying to conceal the incident to avoid the perception of failure despite deploying over 100,000 security personnel.

NewsMobile investigated the viral post and found the claims to be false.
To verify the claim, we conducted a reverse image search using keyframes from the viral video. This led us to a report published on July 3, 2026, by Times Now, which carried the same visuals. The report identified the vehicle as a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) Swift bus that caught fire in Bengaluru, not an Amarnath Yatra bus.
We found the same footage published by another Malayalam news outlet, Mathrubhumi, which confirmed that the incident involved a KSRTC Swift bus travelling from Payyannur to Bengaluru. According to the reports, the fire broke out near Kengeri Gnanabharathi Metro Station in Bengaluru.
Preliminary reports suggested that the blaze was caused by a suspected short circuit. Since the bus had almost reached its destination, only two passengers, along with the driver and conductor, were onboard at the time of the incident.
Several other media organisations also reported the same incident with identical visuals and details, confirming that the footage is unrelated to the Amarnath Yatra.
We also searched for credible reports of a hand grenade attack on an Amarnath Yatra bus in Srinagar. However, we found no reports from government agencies, security officials, or credible news organisations confirming that any such incident had taken place.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show an Amarnath Yatra bus that was attacked with a hand grenade in Srinagar during the ongoing pilgrimage, is false.
