A video purportedly showing Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General NS Raja Subramani issuing an emergency alert is being widely shared on social media with the false claim that over 30,000 Indian Army soldiers have resigned following the CJP protest at Jantar Mantar. In the viral clip, the officer appears to say that thousands of jawans have quit in protest after their children were allegedly beaten during the demonstration.
The video is being circulated with the caption, “Indian Chief of Defense Staff Raja Subramani releases an emergency alert in the wake of Jantar Mantar protests, ‘More than 30’000 jawans have resigned as a protest because their children were brutally beaten at Jantar Mantar.”

The NM team initiated its verification by running a keyword search and extracting keyframes from the viral video. The search led us to the same video uploaded on the Indian Army’s Eastern Command (@easterncomd) official X account on July 21, 2026. In the original video, Chief of Defence Staff General NS Raja Subramani is seen extending his best wishes to all the teams participating in the 135th IndianOil Durand Cup football tournament. The original clip makes no mention of the Jantar Mantar protest or any claim that over 30,000 Indian Army soldiers resigned.
