Amid heightened tensions following the murder of Tarun Kumar, Eid was celebrated under tight security in Uttam Nagar, with members of the Muslim community even showering flowers on police personnel as a gesture of gratitude.
Against the backdrop, a video has gone viral on social media claiming that it shows a large crowd throwing sticks at each other, with a fire burning nearbyin Uttam Nagar on Eid.
A Facebook user posted the viral post with the following caption:
दिल्ली उत्तम नगर में ईद के दिन का मामला
[English version: Eid day incident in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar.]

NM VERIFIED
NewsMobile investigated the viral post and found the claims to be false.
The NM team conducted a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, and found some posts, shared on March 3, mentioning the location as Ghatol — a town in Rajasthan’s Banswara district.
A closer look at the video revealed a shop signboard reading “Jodhpur Mishthan Bhandar.” This same shop and surrounding structures were found to match visuals from Ghatol, confirming the location.
Searching further with relevant keywords, we found an information about a traditional event known as Lathmar Holi, celebrated in Ghatol. As per the local reports, including one by Dainik Bhaskar, this is a centuries-old tradition — over 500 years old — where people divide into groups and play Holi by mock-fighting with sticks, often around a central fire at the town’s Post Office Square.

Visual comparisons with Google Maps of the area, particularly around the Post Office intersection in Ghatol, match the structures seen in the viral video, including the sweet shop signage.

This establishes that the video is not from Uttam Nagar, Delhi, and has no connection to Eid celebrations or recent tensions there. It actually shows a traditional Holi celebration from Rajasthan.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show violence in Uttam Nagar on Eid with a large crowd throwing sticks at each other, is false.
