NM VERIFIED

NewsMobile verified the claim and found that it is misleading.

The NM team initiated its verification by conducting a reverse image search using the viral image. During the search, we found the original image on the official X account of the Bharatiya Janata Party, @BJP4India, shared on August 13, 2026. We also checked the official X account of BJP National President Nitin Nabin, @NitinNabin, where we found a related video posted on the same day.

The original image shared by @BJP4India shows Nitin Nabin hoisting the tricolour during the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. In the original photograph, the national flag is clearly in the correct orientation.

According to the post, BJP National President Nitin Naveen had hoisted the tricolour on the roof of his residence as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign and taken a selfie with the national flag. The original image clearly shows the tricolor being held and hoisted in the correct orientation.

A comparison of the viral image with the original photograph and the video shows that the viral image has been digitally edited to make the national flag appear upside down.

Hence, it is evident that the viral image claiming that Nitin Naveen hoisted the tricolour upside down and disrespected the national flag is false. The viral photograph is an edited version of the original image.
