Verified: Image Of PM Modi Holding Bangladesh Victory Day Placard Is AI Generated

Date:

An image purportedly showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi holding a placard congratulating Bangladesh on its Victory Day has gone viral on social media. The Bengali text on the placard claims that Bangladesh achieved independence in 1971 under the leadership of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and that the people of Bengal will never forget his contribution, while extending congratulations from India. The image is being shared with the claim that PM Modi personally congratulated Bangladeshi citizens on December 16. Let’s find out the truth behind the viral claim.

NM VERIFIED

NewsMobile verified the claim and found that the image is AI-generated.

The NM team initiated its verification by conducting a keyword search to check whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made any such public gesture or statement congratulating Bangladesh on Victory Day. However, the search did not yield any credible media reports or coverage related to the viral image. Had such an event actually occurred, it would have received widespread attention from mainstream media outlets.

We further examined the official social media handles of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as government portals and press releases, but could not find the viral image or any reference to the alleged congratulatory message. The absence of any official record strongly suggests that the image is not authentic.

Additionally, considering the current political dynamics and sensitive diplomatic issues between India and Bangladesh, including border-related matters, it appears highly unlikely that the Prime Minister would issue such a message in the manner depicted in the image.

To further verify the authenticity, the viral image was analyzed using an AI detection tool, Hive Moderation. The results confirmed that the image was generated using artificial intelligence.

Therefore, it is evident that the viral image showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi holding a placard congratulating Bangladesh on Victory Day is not real and has been digitally created using AI.
