An image purportedly showing an official letter issued by India’s Ministry of External Affairs is widely circulating on social media with claims that the Indian government has requested Pakistan to transfer former prime minister Imran Khan to India as a political prisoner. Many users have asserted that it is a leaked “top secret” communication sent through a restricted diplomatic channel, allegedly expressing concern over Khan’s safety and requesting his temporary relocation under a protective framework.

NM VERIFIED
NewsMobile checked the claim and found it to be Misleading.
Running the viral post through Reverse Image Search, the NM team finds a single-page image of the letter circulated online. Apart from this, we found no mention of the communication on the Ministry of External Affairs website. Also, there is no record of the letter in the MEA’s PAI division files or press releases.
Additionally, NewsMobile finds several typographic and formatting oddities in the image that are inconsistent with authentic government stationery, including uneven fonts, irregular spacing and a “Top Secret” stamp that does not match standard government seals.

The PIB Fact Check unit on its X account, dated December 1, has also marked the viral letter as fake. It clarifies that the MEA has not issued any such communication.
So, in conclusion, we can say that the letter claiming India seeks Imran Khan’s custody is viral with false narratives.
