A video showing a crowd waving saffron flags and dancing to music in front of a mosque is doing the rounds on social media. It is being claimed that the incident took place during Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations in Uttam Nagar, where tensions had recently escalated during a Holi celebration brawl.
The claim surfaced after Eid-ul-Fitr on March 21, which was observed under tight security in Uttam Nagar following the death of a 26-year-old man. The Delhi High Court had also issued directions to ensure law and order in the area.

NewsMobile investigated the viral video and found the claims to be False.
Running the video keyframes through Reverse Image Search, NewsMobile traced a longer version of the same footage uploaded on Instagram, dated September 23, 2024, describing that the video is from Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. This confirms that the video predates the 2026 Eid celebrations.
Multiple videos from the same location have also been shared in 2023 and 2025 by the same and other users.
On closely examining the video, we noticed a signboard at the mosque entrance that identified it as Osmania Masjid in Raichur. A comparison with Google Maps Street View confirms that the location in the viral video matches this mosque, and not any site in Delhi.
Moreover, no credible news reports/ sources have carried any such incident from Uttam Nagar area during Eid this year. In fact, a report by Hindustan Times noted that Eid prayers in Uttam Nagar were conducted peacefully, with locals even showering flower petals on police personnel.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show a crowd waving saffron flags and dancing to music in front of a mosque, is False.
