A video purportedly showing professionals taking precise measurements of hands and other body parts has gone viral on social media. The video claims that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has hired an international team for 24/7 grooming and image management, allegedly paying them 10 crores monthly. This video is being widely shared in the context of Modi’s recent appeals for energy conservation.

NM VERIFIED
NewsMobile verified the claim and found that it is misleading.
The NM team initiated its verification by running a reverse image search on key frames from the viral video. Our search led us to multiple media reports published by The Indian Express, Business Standard and Hindustan Times on March 21, 2016.
A report by The Indian Express carried the headline, “Narendra Modi Gets Himself Measured for Madame Tussauds.” According to the report, PM Modi was being measured for his wax statue at Madame Tussauds museums in London, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Bangkok.
The report further stated that the entire process was filmed at the Prime Minister’s residence in New Delhi as part of the museum team’s preparations.
Moving forward, we also found the same video uploaded on the Hindustan Times YouTube channel on March 21, 2016.
Thus, it is evident that the viral clip is nearly a decade old and unrelated to the current claim regarding an international grooming team for PM Modi. Therefore, the viral claim is false.
