After a two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran came into effect on April 8, 2026, Pakistan has stepped in to facilitate high-stakes peace talks between the two sides. As part of the diplomatic push, delegations from both countries arrived in Pakistan on April 11.
Amid this, a video has surfaced on social media purportedly showing Pakistani and Iranian leaders meeting. The clip is being widely shared with the claim that Pakistani leaders were warmly welcomed upon arriving in Iran for the talks.

NewsMobile investigated the viral video and found the claim to be misleading.
To verify the footage, we extracted keyframes and conducted a reverse image search. The video was traced to a Facebook post by Pakistani user ‘Bhurgri Siddique,’ uploaded on September 1, 2025 — well before the ongoing diplomatic developments.
Further keyword searches led us to a longer version of the same video on the official YouTube channel ‘@HT-Videos,’ also published on September 1, 2025. The video description indicates that the visuals are from the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit 2025 held in China.
Additionally, images from the meeting were found on the official Instagram account of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, shared on the same date. A comparison confirms that the leaders are wearing identical outfits in both the viral clip and the official photos, establishing that the footage is unrelated to the current US-Iran talks.

In conclusion, the viral video predates the ongoing diplomatic engagement and is incorrectly being linked to the current US-Iran peace talks. The claim is misleading.
