A video showing a large crowd running in panic is widely circulating on social media with claims that it depicts riots in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar area.
The claim comes amid a sensitive situation in the area after the murder of a person, Tarun Kumar, during Holi. A heavy police deployment was ensured during Eid.
A Facebook user posted the viral post with the following caption:
15 मिनट वाले उत्तमनगर में 5 मिनट में भाग गए, अब्दुल शांतिदूतो को सलाह दे रहा सब घर में छुपकर रहे, यह है हमारे हिंदुओं के एकता की ताक़त! [English version: Those who lived in Uttam Nagar for 15 minutes fled in 5 minutes. Abdul is advising the peace ambassadors to stay indoors. This is the power of unity among our Hindus!]

NewsMobile probed the viral post and found the claims to be False.
Conducting a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, NewsMobile identifies a Facebook post, dated February 9, stating that the incident took place in Baran, Rajasthan.
A closer look at the video shows a police station building with a visible address board reading “Bhimganj Ward, Pratap Chowk, Baran,” clearly identifying the location as Baran and not Delhi.
Further investigation led us to news reports, including one by Amar Ujala, dated February 9. As per these reports, tensions erupted in Baran after the carcass of a calf was found, leading to outrage among local groups.
An organisation, Vasudev Gau Seva Samiti, called for a “Baran Bandh”. During protests at Pratap Chowk, clashes broke out between demonstrators and police. And the police resorted to a lathicharge to disperse the crowd. Reports also noted that a few days after the incident, three police personnel were suspended in connection with the handling of the situation.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral video, claiming to show a large crowd running in panic in Uttam Nagar, is fabricated.
