A video showing a massive crowd is going viral on social media with the claim that it shows people attending Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ event in Pune.
A Facebook user posted the viral post with the following caption:

NewsMobile investigated the viral post and found the claims to be false.
To verify the claim, we conducted a reverse image search using a keyframe from the viral video. This led us to an identical video posted on Instagram by journalist Carlota Vizmanos on July 1, 2026. According to her caption, the footage shows a massive crowd gathered at Zócalo in Mexico City, celebrating Mexico’s goal.
Vizmanos had also shared several other videos from the same event, showing the large gathering at Zócalo.
A closer comparison provided further evidence. The journalist’s original footage contains the words “Mexico 26” visible among the crowd. The same text can be seen at the corresponding spot in the viral video, indicating that both videos show the same location and event.
We also identified a distinctive thick pole visible among the crowd in the viral footage. The same pole can be seen in the Constitution Plaza area of Zócalo. A comparison with Google Street View confirmed that the surrounding location and pole match those seen in the viral video.
Thus, multiple visual clues establish that the footage was recorded at Zócalo in Mexico City, rather than at Rahul Gandhi’s event in Pune.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show people attending Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ event in Pune, is false.
