A video showing the demolition of a structure is doing the rounds on social media. Several users claim that it depicts a 300-year-old temple being razed in Uttar Pradesh under the Yogi Adityanath-led government.
A Facebook user posted the video with a caption: 300 साल प्राचीन मंदिर विकास के नाम पर स्वाहा चित्रकूट गौड़ीहर मंदिर को किया गया ध्वस्त , पहले अयोध्या ,काशी ,अब चित्रकूट था बाकी ??? अब्दुल को टाइट करते-करते अब बात प्राचीन मंदिरों तक पहुंच चुकी है अंध भक्तों अपना ख्याल रखना ??? जय सिया राम (English version: 300 years old temple destroyed in the name of development. Running the video keyframes through Reverse Image Search, NewsMobile found a report by Amar Ujala, dated January 21, 2026, featuring the same footage. As per the report, the video shows the demolition of a temple on Kamadgiri Road in Chitrakoot, Madhya Pradesh. The demolition has since been halted following a stay order issued by the High Court.
We also found a post on X by the UP Police Face Check account, which clarifies that the video is not from Uttar Pradesh, and is related to a road-widening work under the jurisdiction of Nayagaon police station in Madhya Pradesh.
