A video, claiming to show the Aam Aadmi Party leader, Saurabh Bhardwaj, being manhandled by people in Uttam Nagar, is doing the rounds on social media.
The viral clip, around a minute long, shows Bhardwaj being pushed and jostled by a crowd while some people try to shield him. Several media microphones are also visible in the frame, suggesting the presence of press during the incident.
A Facebook user posted the viral post with the following caption:
मु-स्लि-म हमारे भाई है .. ईद मनाने दो AAP पार्टी के नेता सौरभ भारद्वाज को उत्तमनगर में पब्लिक ने जोर से धक्के देकर भगाया हिंदुओं बहुत गलत किया सिर्फ धक्के नहीं देने थे 😭 @top fans गोरखपुर वाले बाबा
[English version: Muslims are our brothers… let them celebrate Eid. AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj was pushed out by the public in Uttam Nagar. Hindus did a very wrong thing; they shouldn’t have pushed him out. 😭 @topfans Gorakhpur Wale Baba]

NM VERIFIED
NewsMobile probed the post and found the claims to be False.
To verify the claim, the NM team examined the video closely and noticed a microphone bearing the logo of Indo-Asian News Service (IANS). A keyword search detects the same clip posted on IANS’ official X account, dated March 19, 2026, clarifying that the footage showed a clash between leaders of the AAP and BJP in Palam, not Uttam Nagar.

We also found related reports by Dainik Bhaskar and Aaj Tak, dated March 19, 2026. According to these reports, the incident took place during a condolence meeting following a fire in Palam on March 18, in which nine members of a family lost their lives.

As per these reports, tensions escalated during the memorial event, leading to a scuffle between AAP and BJP workers. Bhardwaj alleged that supporters of BJP MLA Kuldeep Solanki threw a chair at him during the altercation. Police personnel present at the scene intervened and brought the situation under control.
Another violent incident occured in Uttam Nagar during Holi celebrations — resulting in the death of a 26-year-old man and subsequent tensions. But there is no connection between the Uttam Nagar incident and viral video.
Bhardwaj himself responded to several posts on X, clarifying that the video is not from Uttam Nagar and misleading.

Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show an incident of Saurabh Bhardwaj being manhandled in Uttam Nagar, is false.
