A viral video circulating on social media purportedly shows the devastating flash floods that recently hit the Nepal-Tibet border, sweeping away people, vehicles and structures.
A 10-second video showing a massive torrent of water rushing through an area has been widely shared on social media, with users claiming that it captures the devastating floods along the Nepal-Tibet border.

NewsMobile verified the claim and found that the video is AI-generated.
The NM team initiated its verification to determine whether the viral footage was genuinely recorded during the recent Nepal-Tibet floods. During the verification, we conducted searches across news reports, video coverage and social media posts from credible media organisations covering the disaster. However, the team could not find any matching or similar footage uploaded by a recognised media organisation or credible news source.
The absence of the video from credible media coverage, despite the scale and severity of the disaster, raised questions about its authenticity. We subsequently examined the viral footage closely for signs of manipulation or artificial generation.
A frame-by-frame examination of the clip reveals several visual inconsistencies that are commonly associated with AI-generated videos. At the beginning of the video, a man can be seen standing on the street. As the floodwaters approach and the scene changes, the man suddenly disappears. There are also noticeable distortions in the structures shown in the video. Buildings and other objects appear to warp and transform into unusually shaped masses resembling large boulders as the water moves through the area.
Further inconsistencies can be observed as the camera moves. Around the seven-second mark, a building and a tree appear abruptly in the frame while the camera pans back, despite not being visible in the preceding frames.
Such sudden changes in people, structures and background elements are strong indicators that the footage may have been synthetically generated rather than captured by a real camera.
We also analysed the viral video using Hive Moderation, an AI-content detection tool. The analysis indicated that the video was AI-generated.
Hence, it is evident that the viral video being shared as real footage of the Nepal-Tibet floods is AI-generated.
