Sunny Deol’s verified social media accounts have not displayed any statement suggesting he has resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party. It is to be noted that Sunny Deol joined BJP on April 23, 2019, and was later fielded as the party’s candidate from Punjab’s Gurdaspur Lok Sabha constituency. He won the parliamentary seat.
However, as reported by Moneycontrol in August 2023, Deol had already indicated ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections that he would not seek re-election. The actor-turned-politician explained that balancing his commitments to both cinema and public life had become increasingly difficult, prompting him to step away from electoral politics and return his focus to acting. Deol was quoted by Moneycontrol as saying: “In the acting world, I can do whatever I want. But in politics, if I make a commitment and then fail to fulfil it, I cannot tolerate it. I cannot do that.”
Hence, it can be concluded that the claim that Sunny Deol has resigned from the BJP is false.
