Chiranjeevi Panguluri, a 32-year-old Indian student, tragically died in a car accident in Leicestershire, eastern England, on Tuesday. The incident occurred when the vehicle he was traveling in veered off the A6 road and crashed into a ditch, leaving four others injured.
According to Leicestershire Police, the grey Mazda 3 Tamura was traveling from Leicester towards Market Harborough when the accident took place. Panguluri, a passenger in the car, was declared dead at the scene.
The driver and three co-passengers—a woman and two men—suffered serious injuries and were rushed to a local hospital for treatment. While the driver and the woman are reportedly recovering, the two male passengers remain hospitalised with injuries described as serious but not life-threatening.
Police have arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been released on bail as investigations continue. “Officers remain keen to speak to anyone who may have been travelling along the A6 on Tuesday morning and witnessed the collision,” the police said in a statement.
Panguluri, a resident of Leicester originally from Andhra Pradesh, was pursuing his studies in the UK. Authorities are working to determine the circumstances that led to the accident. Meanwhile, appeals for eyewitness accounts and footage are ongoing to assist the investigation.
