NRI Arrested After Bullets Found In Bengaluru Hotel Room

Date:

An NRI from the United States, identified as Arman Mutaahar, has been arrested after live ammunition and a magazine were allegedly recovered from a hotel room in Bengaluru.

According to police, the accused checked into Jayamahal Palace Hotel with a female friend on the night of April 27 and left the next morning. Later, he reportedly contacted the hotel reception, claiming he had forgotten his mobile phone and a pouch containing live bullets in the room, and asked the staff to keep them safely.

Hotel employees searched room number 225 and allegedly found a mobile phone along with a magazine loaded with seven live rounds. The items were kept at the reception after the accused reportedly said he would return within a few days to collect them.

When he failed to return despite repeated calls, the hotel management handed over the ammunition and magazine to J.C. Nagar police on May 4.

During questioning, the accused allegedly told investigators that he had mistakenly brought the ammunition from the United States. Police said no firearm was recovered. Authorities are now examining possible violations of customs and arms laws.
