Ayush Badoni Enters 1000-Run Club as LSG Edge KKR in Thriller

Date:

Kolkata: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) player Ayush Badoni etched his name in the record books by becoming only the third batter to score 1,000 runs for the team in the Indian Premier League, during their clash against Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday.

The right-hander reached the milestone in the 12th over of LSG’s chase of 182, becoming the second Indian after KL Rahul to achieve the feat for the franchise. Nicholas Pooran had joined Rahul in the elite list last year. Badoni now has 1,029 runs from 59 matches at an average of 26.38.

Badoni marked the occasion with a crucial knock of 54 off 34 balls, studded with seven fours and two sixes, playing a key role in LSG’s successful chase.

The match itself turned into a last-ball thriller at the Eden Gardens, where LSG defeated KKR by three wickets. Chasing 182, the visitors rode on twin half-centuries from Badoni and Mukul Choudhary (54 not out off 27 balls) to seal their second win of the season.

Earlier, KKR posted 181 for four after opting to bat, with contributions from Ajinkya Rahane (41), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (45) and Rovman Powell (39 not out).
