Bayern Munich overcame an early setback to defeat VfL Osnabrück 4-1 and secure their place in the second round of the DFB Cup.
Robin Meibner gave the hosts a surprise lead early on, but Harry Kane brought Bayern level before Tom Bischof completed the turnaround by putting the visitors ahead midway through the first half.
Michael Olise extended Bayern’s advantage after the break, before Kane converted a late penalty to complete his brace and seal a comfortable victory for Vincent Kompany’s side.
Osnabrück made a bright start, with Meibner collecting a long ball before unleashing a powerful effort from distance that beat Bayern goalkeeper Jonas Urbig.
Bayern gradually took control of possession and began applying pressure, but struggled to find a way through Osnabrück’s organised defence.
The visitors eventually drew level after the hosts failed to clear a cross, allowing Kane to finish from close range.
Bayern then completed the turnaround shortly afterwards. Luis Diaz’s effort was saved by Osnabrück goalkeeper Jonas Krumrey, but Bischof reacted quickly to the rebound and fired home to give the Bundesliga champions a 2-1 lead at half-time.
Bayern continued to dominate after the restart, although clear-cut opportunities remained limited. Krumrey kept Osnabrück in the contest by denying efforts from Olise and Ismael Saibari.
Olise eventually put the visitors in control when Lennart Karl set him up, allowing the Frenchman to lift the ball over Krumrey and make it 3-1.
Bayern sealed their progression in the closing stages after Aleksandar Pavlovic was brought down inside the penalty area. Kane stepped up and calmly converted the spot-kick to complete his brace.
Substitute Konrad Laimer came close to adding a fifth, but his effort was saved as Bayern comfortably booked their place in the next round.
Bayern will return to Bundesliga action on Saturday when they travel to face Schalke. The draw for their next DFB Cup opponent will also take place on the same day.
