Chennai Super Kings have signed Karnataka all-rounder Macneil Noronha as a replacement for injured all-rounder Ramakrishna Ghosh for the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2026 season.
The IPL confirmed the development in an official statement after Ghosh was ruled out due to a right foot injury suffered during CSK’s match against Mumbai Indians on May 2.
“Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have picked a player replacement for Ramakrishna Ghosh, who injured his right foot during their game against Mumbai Indians. He has been ruled out for the season,” the IPL statement said.
Ghosh featured in only one game this season before sustaining the injury.
Noronha, who joins CSK for Rs 30 lakh, recently enjoyed a breakthrough domestic season for Karnataka. The all-rounder was awarded the MA Chidambaram Trophy at the Naman Awards after finishing as the highest run-scorer in the 2024-25 Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy.
He amassed 1,037 runs in 14 innings at an impressive average of 79.77, including a career-best score of 345.
Following his outstanding performances, Noronha earned a call-up to Karnataka’s squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he played three matches.
CSK, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, endured a difficult start to their IPL 2026 campaign with three consecutive defeats. However, the five-time champions have revived their season strongly and are currently fifth on the points table with six wins and five losses from 11 matches.
The Chennai-based franchise are currently on a three-match winning streak and remain firmly in contention for a playoff berth with three league matches still to play.
