The Jordan Football Association (JFA) has unveiled its 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026, with star forward Mousa Al Tamari set to spearhead the country’s historic first appearance at football’s biggest tournament.
Jordan will head to North America without influential striker Yazan Al Naimat, who has been ruled out due to a knee injury sustained during last year’s FIFA Arab Cup. However, the squad has been boosted by the return of captain Ehsan Haddad, who is back after nearly a year on the sidelines through injury.
Much of Jordan’s hopes will rest on Al Tamari, who enjoyed an impressive campaign with Stade Rennais FC, registering seven goals and 11 assists in all competitions. The winger was also instrumental during the Asian World Cup qualifiers, scoring seven goals for Jordan.
Head coach Jamal Sellami has also included a number of promising young attacking talents, including Ali Azaizeh, Odeh Fakhoury and Ibrahim Sabra, as Jordan look to make an impact on their World Cup debut.
The Middle Eastern nation will fine-tune preparations with a friendly against Colombia national football team on June 7 before beginning their Group J campaign.
Jordan face a challenging group featuring Argentina national football team, Austria national football team and Algeria national football team.
The World Cup appearance marks a landmark moment for Jordanian football, arriving just over two years after the nation’s historic runner-up finish at the AFC Asian Cup.
