Josh Inglis has joined the Lucknow Super Giants squad ahead of their upcoming fixture on May 4 and is available for immediate selection, providing a timely boost to the side’s struggling campaign in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 season.
According to ESPNcricinfo, South African batter Matthew Breetzke has exited the tournament due to personal reasons and returned home, paving the way for Inglis’ inclusion. The Australian wicketkeeper-batter, who was released by Punjab Kings ahead of the IPL 2026 auction owing to his wedding commitments, was later signed by LSG for ₹8.60 crore.
Inglis, who got married on April 18 in Western Australia, had a solid outing in the previous season, scoring 278 runs in 11 innings at an average of 30.88 and an impressive strike rate of 162.57 for Punjab Kings. He has already begun training with the LSG squad and is expected to strengthen their batting unit.
Lucknow, led by Rishabh Pant, are currently enduring a difficult season, having managed just two wins so far. They face a crucial phase ahead, beginning with their May 4 clash against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium.
The team will then take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Lucknow, followed by a challenging encounter against Chennai Super Kings in Chennai.
