Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane scored a goal each as Manchester City returned to the third position in the Premier League with a 2-0 victory against Sunderland.
After Jermain Defoe struck the post from distance for bottom club Sunderland, Aguero swiftly flicked the ball over Jordan Pickford to open the scoring in 42 minutes.

Sane doubled City’s lead to two goals when he hit the inside of Pickford’s post after intercepting David Silva’s pass just before the hour mark.
Late on, Defoe had a goal disallowed because of the offside rule and Aguero was denied by a good save from the Black Cats goalkeeper.
