Barcelona: FC Barcelona clinched a second consecutive La Liga title after defeating arch-rivals Real Madrid 2-0 in a high-profile El Clasico clash at Camp Nou on Sunday.
Barcelona required only a point to secure the title, but goals from Marcus Rashford and Ferran Torres sealed a comfortable victory as Hansi Flick guided the club to a successful title defence.
The hosts made a strong start when Rashford curled home a free-kick in the ninth minute to give Barcelona the lead. The forward continued to trouble Madrid’s defence and nearly added a second shortly afterward.
Barcelona doubled its advantage in the 18th minute as Torres converted calmly after being set up by Dani Olmo.
Real Madrid, amid reports of dressing-room tensions involving Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde, struggled to respond and created few clear opportunities.
Jude Bellingham briefly thought he had reduced the deficit, but his effort was ruled out for offside.
Barcelona continued to press in the second half, with Torres and Robert Lewandowski creating further chances as the hosts maintained control.
The win moved Barcelona to 91 points from 35 matches, including 30 victories, one draw and four defeats, extending its lead over second-placed Real Madrid to 14 points.
Real Madrid remain on 77 points after recording 24 wins, five draws and six losses this season.
