Paralympics starts on September 7th-18th, in Rio. After the fantastic achievements of Sindhu, Malik and Karmakar, Indians should look forward to win from these matches.
“Such events provide an excellent opportunity to the differently abled sports person to showcase their courage.”–President Pranab Mukherjee.
Though the Paralympics take place at the same place as the Olympics, the enthusiasm for them has been low. Only 12% of available tickets for next month’s Paralympics in Rio have been sold—that is a total of 300,000. This number is less than the last Olympics at London.
The Indian contingent at Paralympics:
One of the Athletes, Sharad kumar has posted on his FB page, “Olympic ends tomorrow, after 10 days is when our Paralympic games Start, I appeal to you all, please share the same enthusiasm or more for Paralympic. My event is on the 10th September 2016 2 :30 am IST . Thank you for your support.”
