Williams Sisters Receive Cincinnati Open Doubles Wildcard

Date:

Olympic champions Serena and Venus Williams have been awarded a wildcard entry into the women’s doubles draw at the 2026 Cincinnati Open, marking their first appearance together since the 2022 US Open.

The sisters will reunite at the WTA 1000 event in Ohio, scheduled from August 11 to 23, after their planned return at Wimbledon was cut short when Serena Williams withdrew from the doubles competition due to a right knee injury following her first-round singles exit.

Among the most successful doubles teams in tennis history, Serena and Venus have won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles and three Olympic gold medals, including the London 2012 Olympics.

Venus has also received a wildcard for the singles draw as both sisters continue their comeback to the WTA Tour.

Serena had announced her withdrawal from the Wimbledon doubles event after sustaining a knee injury. The 23-time Grand Slam champion had returned to Wimbledon after a four-year absence but suffered a first-round defeat to Australia’s Maya Joint, losing 6-3, 6-7 (6-8), 6-3 despite forcing the match into a deciding set.
